Raising any type of animal should be taken seriously by the breeder and
the buyers, regardless of what it is. In addition to that, Cavalier King
Charles Spaniels are simply put very SPECIAL dogs.
In the raising of any creature, the first and foremost ingredient is LOVE.
Without loving what you do, success is oftentimes elusive, Not to mention
heartbreaking and a financial disaster.
This is why if you closely follow the shameful efforts of a few to 'make a quick buck' , you will certainly see failure.
Normally Labor and delivery starts in the middle of the night, continuing on until aybreak. Yes, it is necessary to be there awake. Oftentimes we can lose a pup soon after it arrives if it doesn't receive special care. This is always hard on the heartstrings.
If you work outside of the house, you'd have to take time off or certainly more pups will perish. The first couple of weeks are crucial.
So, by the time we have selectively bred, whelped and raised a new litter of pups, we are extremely invested in them. So, it is easy to understand why our first responsibility is to our puppies. Because our puppies are raised in our home, in the middle of our daily life, they are extremely socialized and it would be emotionally cruel for us to place them in a home where there isn't someone available to raise it. (For example, a home where the adults work full time outside of the home.) Who is going to raise the pup? Therefore We decide what environment is right for our little bundles of love.
NOTE: If you ARE NOT willing and able to spend at least $1,800.00 to $2,400.00 for a puppy, then you are probably contributing to a puppy mill or at the very least an unethical /uneducated breeder.
