Book of the Chow Chow - $23.73 | Chow Chow (Kennel Club) - $8.91 | Manual Practico Del Chow Chow - $18.95 | The book was outdated, which I was made aware of before purchasing. But for less than [$$$] (shipping incl.) I can't complain. Condition of the book was very good and the service I received was excellent. I will certainly buy from Amazon.com again. Although it was perhaps more for the history of famous individual dogs from the 50's, I did pick up some good info on the breed. I expected more info on Chow Chows in general and didn't realize that most of the pics were black & white. All-in-all, I'm happy with the book! Regarded as one of the world's most fascinating, beautiful dogs, the Chow Chow is complex and independent, known around the world for his lionlike appearance, scowling expression and bluish black tongue. Whether adorned with a profuse rough coat or a dense smooth coat, the Chow Chow cuts an impressive image. In its native China, the breed traditionally was used as a guard dog, hunting dog and food source, though never as a pet. The Western world has gladly adopted this noble, handsome pure-bred into its homes and hearts, where it resides as a cherished companion and show dog. The author offers his excellent first-hand advice about house-training and obedience lessons, grooming, puppy socialization, feeding, exercise and much more. Newcomers and experienced fanciers of the Chow Chow alike will welcome this excellent new resource on the breed and regard it as an indispensable addition to their breed library. | The Chow Chow - $29.99 | The Chow Chow - $6.83 | Chow Chow Champions, 1987-2001 - $36.95 | Originally published in London 1914. The earliest book solely devoted to this handsome breed. The author bred and studied Chow Chow's for many years, making a speciality of the blue variety. This comprehensive book details the results of his observations and research into the breed. Contents Include: History Origins Characteristics Colours Management Ailments Breeding and Rearing The Chow as a sporting dog Coat Training etc. The book is well illustrated with photos of Champion Chows'. I am just starting out in Chow Chows and am building a library. I am interested in the Smooth coat variety and this book has some helpful research material.
The author is very knowledgable and the book is a quick read, but a good reference non the less. | | | | |
