Pomeranians 2012 Square 12X12 Wall Calendar - $6.49 | A Tale of Five PomsThis powerful book chronicles the lives of five Pomeranian dogs that were rescued from unbelievably horrible conditions. Follow the amazing tales of Elvis, Pauley, Katy, Little Duke, and Teddy and see what they had to endure to survive, and discover the fate of each precious Pom. Over the years, I have known many people who have gone above and beyond what is expected of them in the world of animal rescue. Two people have touched my heart with their efforts in the area of Pomeranian breed rescue. First, there is my personal hero, Elaine Harris. Her drive for breed rescue consumes her life. She has formed and maintains her own breed rescue Web site, www.PomRescue.com, for which she gets no government assistance. At the drop of a hat, she loads her van with crates and blankets to rescue not only Pomeranians, but also any small breed in need of help and comfort. These rescued animals often need expensive life-saving procedures, which she often pays for with her own money. Above all, she gives each of these animals love and understanding, while working tirelessly to find them the perfect “forever home” they deserve. Next, I wouldn’t have completed this story without the constant support of Marion Faltesek. I first became acquainted with her when I stumbled across an Internet pet forum known as PomMoms. Her dedication to animal care and welfare is a constant inspiration to me. Through the years, she has managed to bring the finest group of people together I have ever encountered over a common cause, that being the care and well being of animals in need. In her “day job,” she works at an animal shelter comforting and caring for animals in need. There she has come to witness the best and worst of humanity in the area of abandoned and run-away animals. On more than one occasion, she has taken an animal into her home that was about to be put to sleep, because nobody came forward to adopt the animal. When she is not at work, she monitors and directs the PomMoms group. She is a special person who does not seek the public recognition she so richly deserves. |
