Grayfriars Bobby: The True Story of a Skye Terrier (Timeless Classic Books)Grayfriars Bobby: The True Story of a Skye Terrier (Timeless Classic Books) - $11.95

Greyfriars Bobby The true story of a Skye Terrier John Gray a gardener, together with his wife Jess and son John arrived in Edinburgh around 1850. Unable to find work as a gardener he avoided the workhouse by joining the Edinburgh Police Force as a night watchman. To keep him company through the long winter nights John took on a partner, a diminutive Skye Terrier, his ‘watchdog’ called Bobby. Together John and Bobby became a familiar sight trudging through the old cobbled streets of Edinburgh. Through thick and thin, winter and summer, they were faithful friends. The years on the streets appear to have taken their toll on John, as he was treated by the Police Surgeon for tuberculosis. John eventually died of the disease on the 15th February 1858 and was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard. Bobby soon touched the hearts of the local residents when he refused to leave his master's grave, even in the worst weather conditions.

Kerry Blue Terrier (Comprehensive Owner's Guide)Kerry Blue Terrier (Comprehensive Owner's Guide) - $11.33

Named for County Kerry, the Irish Blue may have derived from some legendary "blue dogs that swam ashore from a ship wrecked in Tralee Bay." Singed with romance, the origins of the Kerry Blue Terrier befit this distinctive terrier among terriers. In addition to being a feisty and game earthdog, rugged enough to rid the landscape of rats and badgers, the Kerry is a versatile farm dog, a trainable hunting and herding dog, a confident watchdog and a delightful companion. Although strong-willed, as are all terriers, the Kerry excels in obedience and agility competition and possesses the confidence and panache to make heads turn in the show ring. As a companion, the Kerry Blue Terrier is able to delight dog lovers of every age with his clever and entertaining ways, his unmistakable affection for children and his unflagging devotion to his people. For the right owners, the Kerry makes an upstanding and handsome addition to a loving household.

This book discusses selection and care of the puppy as well as house-training, obedience training and dealing with and preventing behavioral problems. From the first days with the new puppy in the owner's home to the special care for a senior dog, this new volume will prove an invaluable addition to every Kerry lover's library.
