 |  | | General Information | The English Springer Spaniel can be traced to at least the 17th century to its roots in England. It is thought to be the common ancestor of all the Spaniel breeds. In the modern day dog there is quite a difference between show bred and field bred varieties, with the latter sporting a rougher coat and less pendulous ears.
The English Springer Spaniel stands at approximately 18 to 20 inches when measured at the shoulder. The coat, which is of medium length, can be either flat or wavy. Color combination of black and white, liver and white or black, liver and white.
As a pet the English Springer Spaniel, has an even temperament, is affectionate and eager to please. The breed is described as "good with children".
