| Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler, Red Heeler) |
|---|
 | | | General Information | The Australian Cattle Dog is believed to have been developed in Australia from a mix of the border collie, collie, bull terrier, dalmatians, and dingo, to specifically herd cattle. It is also known as the Queensland Heeler or Blue Heeler.
The coat of the Australian Cattle Dog is usually a mottled blue, with black, blue or tan markings. Some have a red speckled coat. Marking can be very varied in this breed. It is a medium sized dog, the male measuring between 18 and 20 inches and the female usually between 17 and 19 inches.
Australian Cattle Dogs are intelligent and active but have retained some of the instincts of the dingo. Their cautious nature makes them trainable as guard dogs. As a family pet, they need to be well trained and require plenty of exercise..Click here for a list of Australian Cattle Dog puppies for sale and adoption!
