 | | | General Information | The Beagle is believed to date back to 3rd century England. They were bred as scent hounds to trail small game (usually in packs).
Although the Beagle can stand anywhere from 10 to 16 inches at the withers, this dog breed is divided into two classes for competition purposes (under 13", and 13-15"). Their coat is of medium length and is quite smooth, and come in a variety of colors and combinations,
including white, black, tan/lemon/red, brown/liver, blue/grey.
In most cases Beagles are wonderful family pet. Their social nature, means that they will usually get on well with family members (adults and children alike), and other pets - especially if socialized as a puppy. They are fairly easy to groom, but do have a tendency to roam if left to their own devices - so a fenced yard is a must.Click here for a list of Beagle puppies for sale and adoption!
