 |  | | General Information | The Beauceron was developed in France to herd large flocks of sheep over long distances. Because of the task they were bred for, this dog breed shows an exceptional amount of stamina and endurance, and can travel 50 miles a day without showing fatigue.
The male Beauceron stands at 25½-27½ inches at the withers and females average approximately an inch shorter. This dog breed is double coated. On the body, the close lying outer coat measures about 1½ inches and is coarse and thick. on the head and lower legs th coat is smooth and short. Beneath the outer coat lies a fine dense undercoat. The colorings of the Beauceron are always black and tan.
