The male Black Russian Terrier measures 25-29 inches at the withers and the female is approximately an inch shorter. Dogs can weigh anywhere between 80 and 145 lbs. The coat is hard and dense, never soft, wooly, silky, or frizzy and is usually 1.5 to 4 inches in length. in

The Black Russian Terrier is loyal to its owner and courageous enough to defend him if he feels his master is threatened. Bonds with family members are always strong, but the BRT does take some time to familiarize itself with strangers. They are said to make excellent guard dogs.
