 | | | General Information | The Boston Terrier breed originated in the latter part of the 19th century by crossbreeding the English Bulldog with the now extinct English White Terrier. The breed was shown in Boston in 1870 and quickly became a popular breed.
The AKC recognizes 3 classes of Boston Terrier, based upon weight. Under 15 pounds; 15 pounds and under 20 pounds; 20 pounds and under 25 pounds. The coat has a fine texture, and is short smooth and bright, and marked with white in proportion to either black, brindle, seal, or a combination of the three. Seal is a color specifically used to describe Boston Terriers and is defined as a black color with red highlights when viewed in the sun or bright light.
As a pet, they are extremely affectionate, well behaved and gentle, but bred as a companion dog they also require time and commitment from their owner. There intelligence of the Boston terrier allows it to be trained quite easily.Click here for a list of Boston Terrier puppies for sale and adoption!
