 |  | | General Information | The origins of the Clumber Spaniel are either English or French. The one thing that is sure about them is that they were used by Prince Albert as hunting dogs. Queen Victoria referred to them as "such dear, nice dogs". They take their name from Clumber Park in Nottingham. When game fowl are in heavy cover (as opposed to open cover), the Clumber Spaniel is favored over both the English Cocker Spaniel and English Springer Spaniel to flush the birds They are excellent trackers.
Males average 18 to 20 inches and females is 17 to 19 inches. The coat of the Clumber Spaniel is flat dense and weather resistant. Predominately white these dogs usually have orange and lemon marking. Some will have freckled legs.
