 |  | | General Information | It is believed that the Dalmatian was developed in Dalmatia, a province of Croatia during the 18th century as a working dog. It was popular in late 19th century England as a carriage dog where it had the endurance and stamina to run alongside the horse.
The coat of the Dalmatian is short, and fine haired but thick. The color is white with either black or brown spots. They measure 19-24 inches at the withers and can grow to 70 lbs.
As a pet this dog breed abounds with energy and requires plenty of exercise.
