| Irish Setter |
|---|
 | | | General Information | The breed was developed in Ireland during the 18th century as hunting dog for game birds such as Quail and Pheasant.
Males measure an average of 27 inches and females average about 25 inches when measured at the shoulder. The coat of the Irish Setter is flat and of moderate length on most of the body, although it is shorter and finer on the head and forelegs.
As a pet, the Irish Setter is both playful and affectionate. In the puppy the playfulness can manifest itself as mischievousness. It is said that the Irish Setter can be difficult to train, but most owners wouldn`t agree although most would admit a little extra patience is required with this breed of dog as they can be somewhat stubborn.
