 |  | | General Information | The English Pointer can trace its roots to 17the century England where it was used as a hunters dog to point out game. In some areas it is referred to as the "birddog".
Male Pointer dogs measure 25-28 inches at the withers while females are a few inches shorter. The coat is short, thick and has luster to it. The color of the coat can be liver, lemon, black or orange or one of the aforementioned colors in combination with white.
As a pet, the English pointer is loyal, affectionate, gentle and have a reputation for been good with children. These dogs are intelligent and fairly easy to train.
