Oklahoma Cocker Rescue - Robin Shepard
Enid Oklahoma 73703
Email

We are a small rescue located in Enid, OK. We are currently looking for homes that can help foster cockers who have been rescued by us until they can be adopted. Monetary donations are always welcome and very much appreciated. Most rescued dogs have vet bills and /or medical conditions that need taken care of before they are ready for adoption. We currently have three dogs up for adoption. If you are interested in any of these dogs please email us for an adoption application. There are several steps taken to ensure we have the right dog for your family so please be patient. There is also an adoption fee which includes shots being current, the dog being spayed/neutered, heartworm tested, and a vet check. All dogs must remain on a heartworm preventative and are required to be house dogs. They will be crate trained by the time they go to their new home. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for looking!

Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue, Inc - Kathryn Glass
Parker Colorado 80134
Ph: (303) 617-1939   Email

Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue, Inc. was founded out of our love and passion for Cocker Spaniels and our belief that a group of dedicated volunteers will make a significant and lasting difference in the lives of unwanted, abandoned, abused or neglected Cockers in the Rocky Mountain Region and the surrounding states. We are part of an extensive network of dog lovers across Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wyoming and New Mexico who band together for love of the breed. Our mission is to rescue, foster, train and rehabilitate unwanted Cocker Spaniels that have been mistreated, abused, neglected or abandoned and to place them in permanent, pre-qualified homes. Our vision is that no Cocker go unloved. Our organization seeks Cocker Spaniels that have been abandoned and are therefore found as strays or at shelters; are unwanted and are therefore surrendered by their owners to us or to shelters; or are abused, neglected or mistreated in their current living situation. Many of these fur kids live in terrible, inhumane conditions and/or face euthanasia at shelters. Our directors and volunteers rescue these animals from the local shelters, from owners who cannot care for their pets anymore and from neglect or abandonment situations. Rescued dogs are placed in foster care at the home of pre-screened volunteers until a suitable owner can be found for the dogs. Often foster care volunteers need to work with the dogs to housetrain or socialize them and teach them basic obedience so they are more adoptable. Before the dogs are available for adoption they are spayed or neutered and seen by a veterinarian for a health exam to identify any health care issues and any necessary vaccinations are administered. Identified health problems are treated before the dog is placed into a new home. Our dogs also undergo a behavior evaluation that helps us determine what type of permanent home environment would allow them to thrive and succeed. Potential adopters must complete an adoption application that is followed by an initial phone screening. The references and veterinarians are contacted by one of the directors or the volunteers. A director or volunteer with Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue then makes a home visit to assess the family’s or individual’s life style and suitability for a dog. If Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue deems the applicant to be capable of providing a safe, loving, long-term home for the dog, the adoption is arranged. Anyone who adopts a dog pays an adoption fee to help defray food and veterinarian costs. Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue requires the adopter to sign an adoption contract that requires the new owner to take good care of the dog and to provide veterinarian care when necessary. The contract also requires the new owner to return the dog to Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue if they can no longer care for the dog or if the dog is not working out for them. The directors and volunteers rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs through the donation of their services. We would love to have you work with us for love of the dog. E-mail or call us and we’ll explain all the volunteer opportunities available to you and send you a volunteer application to complete and return to us. Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit, charitable corporation headquartered in Centennial, Colorado. We were officially incorporated on February 17, 2009 and have applied for our 501(c)(3) status so that all donations will be tax deductible.
