Lauren Trichter is a Canine Behaviorist, teaching companion dogs and their owners canine behavior modification and obedience training. Over twenty years of professional experience, I have had great success and reviews from my clients. In 1992, Denver’s Westword newspaper named me “Denver’s Best Dog Trainer”. Although I work with all breeds at any age, I specialize in puppy training starting as young as seven weeks old. Training puppies at an early age encourages good behavior and prevents new dog owners from making common mistakes. My unique approach to teaching dogs good manners is similar to using child psychology. My innate rapport with dogs helps me know what they are thinking and feeling. Intuitively, I understand their behavior and mannerisms. This special skill enables me to show dog owners why their dogs behave the way they do and to explain their dog’s point of view in various situations. To support each dog’s unique personality, I like to work with the owners and their dogs in the home environment. This is where most problems occur and where the dog spends 90% of its time. By carefully listening and observing, I tailor every lesson to meet the needs and habits of each dog and their respective family. Often, the dog’s body language reveals an appropriate strategy for changing unwanted behaviors. I restructure the owners’ interaction with the dog using such methods as appropriate voice tone, vocabulary, consistency, treatment and realistic expectations of the dog. I love dogs and enjoy helping owners bring out their companion pet’s best behavior and fullest loving potential. My clients express great appreciation in my ability to easily communicate training methods to them. Training sessions are filled with fun, humor, and enthusiasm and my easy-going personality enables me to work with any owner. However, when necessary I am decisive and firm to achieve the desired results. Companion pet dog training includes street and safety commands, obedience training as well basic in home commands and manners. My work with families often includes children. I also work with pregant woman, to help the dog adjust BEFORE and AFTER the baby's arrival. This frequently can eliminate potential problems such a s jealousy and promotes safety for the duration of the pregnancy and the newborn baby.
In Home Lessons:
They are given in the privacy of your own home. My philosophy is: home is where the problems are and home is where your dog spends most of its time. Lessons are tailored to your dog’s specific behavioral and training needs. Lessons are approximately 1.5 hours.
Semi-Private or Group Classes
These classes are conducted for people who want to further their dog’s training and to enhance owner’s control beyond the home environment. Semi-private classes are 2 to 4 people for four weeks, one hour each week. Clients are paired so that they share similar training needs. Group classes are 10-12 people/dogs for six weeks, one hour each week.
