Females must be Harlequin or Mantle, pure color pedigree and must be AKC registered, have OFA health testing done and be from a reputable show breeder or compatible pedigree. Euro Harlequin females are welcome. When breeding you want the Dane to look like a Dane and the offspring as well, not look like a Greyhound or English Mastiff. Even though the Dane was derived from the Mastiff, a Dane should not look like one. The breed standard is highly important.
