Brookwood Collies is home to Happy, Healthy and loving tempered Collies! While our highest priority is temperament, we also place a premium on health and structure because this has a huge impact on the Collie's personality as well. Brookwood Collies revolves around farm & family life on our family-only run dairy farm near Danville, central PA. Many of the Collies enjoy herding cattle while others could not be more happy that to lie by our feet or be by our side while we work. The Collies enjoy baby calves especially and like to be on hand to help feed them. Brookwood Collies has ample housing space for each Collie. Every Collie has it's own heated/air-conditioned space indoors and has a 16 foot deck outside. Our housing facilities are well within and above the requirements provided by the Pennsylvania Dog Law and the USDA. Every Collies is examined by our licensed veterinarian at least once every 6 months. Our vet visits the farm every 2 weeks and sees the Collies then. Brookwood Collies is inspected impromptu several times a year by the PA DOG WARDENS, the USDA, and the AKC. Brookwood Collies breeds for NORMAL EYED Collies, this means every puppy is cleared for CEA and PRA-prcd2. Since our Collies are normal eyed, they do not have the likelihood of becoming blind by the age of 2 years because of Collie Eye genetic problems. MDR1, Multi Drug Sensitivity, is another thing we test for and breed away from, MDR1 sensitivity includes sensitivity to drugs such as Ivermectin in Heartworm meds, ibuprofen, etc. We also do not want any of our Collie puppies to be affected by DM, Degenerative Mylopathy. DM is a disease causing the spinal cord to deteriorate, leading to immobility and incontinence. We also test for CN and DMS. Every puppy is born in the house and receives optimal socialization which is meant to help them to fulfill their greatest potential in life!
